Nannuo danzhu 2021

This puer comes from a factory on Nannuo Mountain, which we visited on the Xishuangbanna expedition in 2018. Last year, I contacted Ms. Xialing again to get me the best puer from this factory. The leaves of this tea come from one tree with a wide trunk. You may be wondering why only from one tree? Tea plants that have been cultivated for centuries are cloned by cuttings to achieve characteristics similar to the mother plant, but their age does not reach the same length as tea plants that come from seeds. However, they have different properties. This also applies to sensory properties. This tree is exceptional compared to others precisely in its taste and sensory properties. Imagine if we had hundred-year-old vineyards that grew from seed, and every single vine would have a different smell and taste, and suddenly you would come across Muscat at one of them. I felt somewhat similar when I tasted this tea for the first time. It had an intense lily-like aroma with a slightly bitter and full orchid-like taste. I felt something similar in puers only very exceptionally.
