Red tea from Wuji village in Guangxi

In 2017 a customer who I work for as an interpreter of chinese language, brought me a package of black tea from wild old trees somewhere in Guangxi province. He had no clue where was it from, just that he like it. The depth and the taste of this tea enchanted me. Since then I had been trying to decifer caligraphic characters on the package and find this place on a map. Then in 2024 when I planed route for an expedition to Guangxi province I took extra effort and I have found it. We took two taxis and headed towards Wuji village. But the destination was too far for them and they start to object. After adding two hundred yuans more, we start to climb to the jungle surrounded serpentines. In another hour we stepped into a fairy-tale land of Wuji village.  Deep mountains woven by big meandering river, winding around monolithic boulders the size of three apartment buildings astonished us all. Two waterfalls flowing into a natural lake, a bamboo forest and tea trees all around still seem like a dream to me. There were very few people in the village and only one tea producer who established a tea-culture assosiation here.  Mr Dong Jijiang. And guess what? He recognized his tea package which I received from my friend back in 2017.  He invited us for a dinner of the Qingming festival- The festival of sweeping tombs. They drink tea also with their homemade red rye destilate, so we also gifted them with our quality plum destilate from Slovakia and Czech Republik. When you drink this tea, you will feel the depth of mountains where wild tea trees are bitter and sweet.
